Mythomachus – The Roleplaying Game

On

Highlander meets the Witcher in tales of might and glory, having heroes fighting against impossible creatures of folk legend.

Mythomachus The Role Playing Game is a TTRPG about the stories of legendary heroes protecting the world from monsters and fiends of folklore.

Its main setting uses the lands we now call Greece as they were in the 1800s, a dangerous place to live, with each small village haunted by dark creatures hiding among the humans.

Every mountain peak, every river and every cave holds creatures of the other worlds, minor deities and mystical artifacts hidden since the ancient times.

Two separate versions of the game will be made, each based on two separate
systems, the 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons and the Year Zero Engine used
in most games of Free League Publishing.

It takes advantage of each system’s strengths to create new classes to fit the
era and theme, a unique magic system to show the true wild nature of magic
and creatures you’ve never witnessed before originating from Greek folk
stories and songs, banished only with specific ritualistic practices.

Eight Classes/Archetypes

Forge your hero from 8 distinct classes/archetypes, each branching into multiple
subclasses/specializations that reflect their role in the world. From cursed wanderers to
sacred warriors and village seers, every choice shapes how the world sees you—and
how the Fates respond.

Mythical creatures and Folklore traits:

Mystical Vourkolakes spreading disease and vengeance from beyond the grave.

Cunning Kalikantzaroi spreading chaos and trouble, abducting people to the Otherworld.

Beautiful Nymphs, luring you with their songs into the unknown.

Every creature has its own stories, and as such, each creature in Mythomachus has Folklore Traits:
When the party faces a creature, they never know which story is true and what it can really do.

Weaving Magick

In this world, magick is woven, not cast, and everything has its price. Inspired by rural,
spells often require rituals, offerings, and carry lots of consequences.

Divine Favors and Curses

Every powerful being will reward you with divine favor when you accomplish its
requests, but others will curse you for hindering their plans. You need to be careful
when playing with forces out of this world.
